My name is Sindhu, and now I am pursuing B.Sc. Physician Assistant in a well reputed college in Chennai.
From young age, I had a dream of becoming a doctor. However, I have faced all the troubles in my life right from the time I was born.
My father passed away in Tuberculosis disease when I was 7 month old. The struggles in my life started from that moment on, because my mother was unable to earn money to take care of me and my elder sister. My mother left both of us under the shelter of my grandparents. It was my grandfather who became my guardian. He was a handicapped who had lost one of his legs in Sri Lankan war. And he came to India as a refugee. My grandparents took great effort to help me study. I too studied with immense interest towards academics. And I became topper of my school in 10th standard. But my bad luck again started to follow me.
My beloved grandpa who was my only hope had fallen sick. The responsibility of taking care of my aged grandparents rested on my shoulder. Though I was not adequately trained, I started to nurse my grandpa who suffered from piles, and I used to clean everything by myself. So, I could not continue my studies further. Due to a flood, water surrounded my house, and we shifted our residence to a nearby church. Both Pastor George Arunothayam of Sharon Worship Center and his wife Sarah came forward to help my further studies. They provided me with everything right from food, clothes and allowed me to stay in their house.
Meanwhile my grandparents passed away. I pursued Diploma in Nursing and became the college topper. Then I started to work as a nurse in a private hospital but the thirst of becoming a doctor did not quench. However, my guardian Pastor George and his wife Sarah realizing my dream offered help to continue my studies. But then money became a barrier to achieve my dream. So, Pas. George sought the assistance and finally through the help from EduCare, I am continuing my studies.
I cordially thank Pastor George Arunothayam and his family, and all other sponsors and well-wishers of EduCare for their guidance and support. I am sure that my association with EduCare will continue. I really look forward to being part of EduCare and I will surely pass on the blessing I received to others, and to help EduCare for helping many deserving students achieve their dreams.
